Bush Tucker Man.

When Ruby6 was approached by the iconic Australian author Les Hiddens (aka, The Bush Tucker Man), the team jumped at the chance to create a database aimed at educating Aussies about their bountiful backyards.

The Bush Tucker Man, Les Hiddens, is a retired Australian Army soldier and war veteran, famous for his love and knowledge of the Australian bush. He is best known for his iconic, 90s TV Series The Bush Tucker Man.

Given the Bush Tucker Man’s continued popularity among grey nomads travelling around Australia, often in mobile blackspots, his website needed to be designed to allow users to store their search results as PDFs on their devices.

A paid, subscription-based resource, the Bush Tucker Man website required functionality including user registration, subscription management, e-commerce, searchable database of items by name, location and seasonality information, and restricted monthly downloads.

Ruby6’s team of graphic designers and web developers developed a simple, yet effective design for ease of use. The development resulted in travellers being able to interact with the website and obtain and store valuable information whilst travelling around Australia.

Since launching in May 2019, bushtuckerman.com.au has gained hundreds of loyal, paid subscribers and a positive reception from media, featuring on ABC Landline, The Australian and Studio 10.

The Ruby6 team is proud to be part of a project to bring an Australian icon back into the hearts and minds of Australian travellers.
